Top-Ten Ranked Lady Panthers Participate in Mayor’s Cup Volleyball Tournament

The top-ten ranked 3A Lady Panthers kicked off the Labor Day holiday participating in the Mayor’s Cup Volleyball Tournament at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery over the weekend. With a 1-4 record for the tournament, PCA lost to powerhouse teams Brew Tech, Thompson, Addison, and Prattville High School but defeated Jeff Davis in just two sets. The Lady Panthers stand at 3-5 on the season; no area matches have been played yet.

Lennon McAnnally had 35 kills, 12 aces, 1 block, and 31 digs
Julie Lawrence had 55 assists, 14 kills, 6 aces, 1 block, and 26 digs
Emily Kamykowski had 36 digs and 13 aces
Jamie Johnson had 42 assists, 15 digs, 14 kills, and 12 aces
Victoria Wheeler had 22 kills, 3 digs, 5 blocks, and 6 aces
Hannah Jones had 13 kills, 2 digs, and 4 blocks
Jacey Haynes had 6 kills and 5 blocks
Sydney Jorgensen had 14 aces and 11 digs

“I feel like we’ve had a great start to the season,” said Kaylon Cantrell, PCA’s head volleyball coach. “We’ve played some really tough competition and been able to compete well with all of them! We’re definitely growing and getting better as a team. This group has a lot of potential, and I’m excited to watch this season unfold.”
