Caroline Schumpert Enters Chip Gaines’ Chipstarter Contest

 In School News

Caroline Schumpert ’22 is not only a full-time student but a local business owner. As the founder and creative artist of Carrie Grace Designs, she designs greeting cards and art to provide financial assistance for families in the adoption process. The first family that she is supporting is one that is close to her heart – Caroline’s sister and brother-in-law are currently in the process of adopting her nephew, Daniel, from India.

Last September, Caroline entered Chipstarter; a contest sponsored by Chip Gaines of the HGTV hit series, Fixer Upper. Chip is the comedic half of superstar duo that is known for their love of all things demolition, shiplap, and family. In addition to his on-air comedy, Chip is passionate about “being a runway for people – a starting place to help their dreams take-off.” The Chipstarter contest was launched when he was reminded of all the people in his life who helped him achieve his dreams while writing his book.

Caroline entered the contest to help give her fledgling business a boost because Chip and Joanna Gaines were her inspiration to “give it go.” While Caroline didn’t win the contest, she received, as she put it, “one of the coolest birthday presents ever was getting a little encouragement from Chip and Jo” in the form of a signed note from the famous couple thanking her for her thoughtfulness in reaching out to them and wishing her well in her business ventures.
