PCA Students Attend 2018 Legislative Day

 In School News

Four PCA students were selected to attend the 2018 Legislative Day at the Alabama State House earlier this month. Austin Eagerton, Kaleb Ellis, Garrett Redman, and Will Staggs were among the 300 students who participated from across the state this year.

Sponsored by the Alabama Bankers Association, Legislative Day is an annual event that brings students from across the state to Montgomery to learn about the legislative process and meet their elected officials. During the event, participants enjoy visiting the chamber, learning how bills become law, touring the capitol, and taking part in a mock vote.

“It was a fantastic experience. It was an honor to be able to learn about the history of the state government and the entire process that it takes to run the government for the state of Alabama,” said Will Staggs.

Legislators from the House and Senate Banking Committee joined the students during a special lunch to continue the learning process and be available to answer questions. PCA has enjoyed sending students through this program in the past and was honored to send four outstanding juniors this year.

“Legislative Day taught me tons of information regarding our local state government and how we as citizens play a part in it all,” said Garrett Redman. “I highly recommend it to anyone who’s interested, whether you consider yourself a political person or not.”
