Words for Christian Hearts: The Importance of Teamwork

 In Words for Christian Hearts

After much thought and prayer, I have decided to blog. While it is intended for PCA families, many posts will apply to all parents with school-age children. I am hoping it will provide a window into my heart, executive leadership at PCA, parent partnership with schools, and the tough job of parenting. I raised two children and now help to raise four grandchildren. It is my prayer that my years of experience may provide much-needed help and counsel.

Let me start by telling you that I am thrilled and honored to serve our families and their most precious treasure, their children. I certainly take my responsibility seriously, as does each PCA staff member. I pray for our students and parents often, as I know we live in very challenging times. I realize that when dealing with issues, emotions may run high, and the sense of not knowing what to do when a challenge arises may seem overwhelming.

Teamwork is a pillar on which relationships with our families are built. Without it, we are not able to come together in a unified manner to prepare our children for the next phase of life. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to watch first-hand the transformation that can occur when parents and faculty members work together to tackle the challenges of educating young people. The combination of teamwork and communication between parents and teachers can move mountains for many of our students. It’s absolutely something that neither the parent or the faculty member can accomplish alone. This is one of the most rewarding parts of my job!

Family is an integral part of the PCA culture. I see and hear examples of this every day around campus. Just this week, one of our teacher’s spouses fell ill suddenly – parents reached out, offered prayers, and asked what could be done to help. When our students are sick, or someone suffers a loss, the PCA family immediately steps in. They reach out in love to help in any way. These are wonderful examples of teamwork that honors God. He has truly blessed this school with some of the most caring and selfless families. Parents are invested in their children and place a great deal of trust in us to help them educate their kids spiritually, academically, and physically. Our faculty members are also invested professionals who want the best for our students and our families. The PCA family is what keeps us strong together and keeps me motivated to approach each day with an eye on honoring God and improving our services.

As I wrap up my first blog, I want to thank the PCA family. Thank you for the trust you’ve placed in our faculty and staff members to partner with you in educating your children. Your feedback is appreciated. Please contact me if you’d like to discuss this topic further or if you have a suggestion for future blog posts.

My speech and my proclamation were not with persuasive words of wisdom[a] but with a powerful demonstration by the Spirit, so that your faith might not be based on men’s wisdom but on God’s power. 1 Corinthians 2:4-5
